I've visited in the past when my kids were small. It's been a very long time and remembered how much I enjoyed my visit so I decided to visit again today. Boy I forgot how cool this museum really is. The staff is great and there are so many things to see. Don't pass up the opportunity if you have the chance. Give yourself a lot of time there is a lot to see!
Excellent collection of aircraft in hangars of the old air base. Lots of planes, pieces of planes, and support equipment all sharing two hangars along with some outside static displays. Very informative and though we had no children with us; the kids there were excited and interested. There is also a flight simulator that you can try.
All in all a nice distraction on the long ride home.
This museum is absolutely worth a visit. We were surprised at just how much is on display! It is spread out enough that even though there were others visiting we never had to wait behind someone to see anything. Very informative and it was great to see so many military items up close. If you enjoy history take a few hours and visit. We spent about 2 hours walking through, and could have easily spent more time.
This is a neat place that we found on Bringfido, and it was along our route. Dog friendly! They have a water bowl, and a nice gentleman gave my Daisy a treat! This is a great place if you've served or had a family member who served. $7 for adults. I went around noon on a Wednesday and I was the only one in the museum which was cool
Fun aviation epicenter with an emphasis on military history. Awesome inventory, including an F-14 from Top Gun training center. Interactive displays as well as walk through, with amazing access and proximity to classic history.
If you like airplanes, The WW aircrafts, military equipment or just a new place to explore with a load of history to learn. Check out the Combat Air Museum in Topeka.
Friendly staff, 2 enormous garages full of planes to explore.
This is a very good air museum. It has probably 40 or more planes, that may be low. My son is really into planes and he enjoyed it a lot. He loved it. He loved taking pictures and reading about the aircraft and being able to touch them. I will say, make sure it is not to cold or hot, they do not have heat or A/C in the hangers. We went on a 33 degree day and it was okay but when you were outside it was brutal. They also have an area of paintings that were cool. The staff were great. Just enter through the door around the building facing the street to the west.
My family had a really good time here. One of curators offered us a tour and told us all about the different aircraft. He was very knowledgeable. There were some things my daughter got to sit in and a flight simulator. We didn't do the simulator, but we watched another child who toured with us try it out and he seemed to have lot of fun with it plus the man teaching him to use it was very kind. The employees were very interested in my husband's service, so if you're active duty or a retired veteran, I'm sure you'd get the same attention.
